Paul Arthur, (vocals & harmonica), in his 30 years of music-making, brings his boundless energy & amazing talent to every performance. Each word Paul sings tells a story. He can make you cry with emotion to a slow blues, and get you dancing too.
Paul has been called 'THE MASTER BLUESMAN' by some of Montreal's most prominent Blues Musicians.
It has also been said in the Montreal Blues community that “Paul Arthur is still one of the best at doing the Muddy Waters style Chicago Blues feel.”
Paul Arthur is different from most Blues singers on the circuit. Although he performs today’s powerhouse Blues Songs like Crossroads, Pride & Joy, Mojo, & Hoochie Coochie Man, he loves to sing some of the earliest narrative ballads of the 1920's-1940's.
Paul’s powerful gravelly voice has been compared to Joe Cocker, Tom Waits & Johnny Winter, but he's definitely one of a kind! His harmonica style has been compared to Paul Butterfield, and the late great Little Walter, but again, he's unique, and copies no one.
‘Paul Arthur & Raisin’ Cain’ play tunes by Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, BB King, Robert Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Tom Waits, Johnny Winter, & many more great bluesmen.
Paul Arthur & Raisin’ Cain were the 'Grand Prize Winners' in the ‘Battle of the Blues Bands’ Contest, & won a trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras 2016. The band was invited to play a few sets at the legendary Blues Club ‘THE FUNKY PIRATE’ on Bourbon Street. They were streamed LIVE around the world, & received several encores.
When it comes to singing the Blues, Paul Arthur is the real deal! - It’s Pure Hot Blues all the Way!
